About Me

When I was young, I saw some of my friends draw some amazing pictures.  I tried, but I usually ended up with scribbly stick figures, and that was considered a good day.  I simply assumed I had no talent.  Years later, a friend told me that I could draw amazing pictures if I put an amazing amount of practice into it.  Yeah, right.

I eventually went to university and got my MA in Philosophy (which, incidentally, is the rough equivalent of majoring in welfare).  Along the way, I also picked up a second-degree blackbelt.  Now out of school, with no immediate job prospects and only karate-training keeping me sane, I've decided to put an amazing amount of practice into drawing.  Hey, why not?  Better than watching TV all day.

In my spare time, I also play chess, juggle and study Latin and Ancient Greek, which I believe gives me the largest pool of completely un-employable skills possible.  Now I can add drawing to that list, or at least I'm giving it my best shot.

SNAPSHOT
Interests: Classical music, classic rock, classic architecture, classic Disney (TLK!) and the classical world.

Animal: The cat.  Big cats, house cats, stray cats, I love them all.  Judging by how often I go through milk, perhaps I love that last category a little too much.

Artist: ... I don't actually have one.  I haven't seen enough art to have a favourite.

Art Style: Graphite Realism and (Western) Cartoons.  I also appreciate a good powerful landscape, like a mountain, on occasion.

Food: Bread.  Or I guess wheat.  I don't think there's a food made of wheat that I don't like.

Life Goals
  • Write a novel (doesn't necessarily need to be published)
  • Draw a masterpiece (or what I would consider really friggin' good)
  • Actually understand Hegel
  • Learn a soft-style martial art
  • Do the splits
  • Smile and laugh everyday
